FAQ:

What do the auditions consist of?

Open auditions will begin with a warm-up and across-the-floor exercises. You will then learn a turning combination and be asked to perform the turns in small groups. Next, you'll learn a short jazz combination and perform it in small groups.

You'll then learn a longer contemporary combination and perform that in small groups. In addition, if you have additional experience in another style, you will have the opportunity for an improvisation section at some point during auditions.

What do you look for in dancers?
We appreciate good technique, but we also prefer dancers who aren't afraid to push themselves creatively and are passionate about dance. We love for our dancers to have fun, perform and show their personalities!

What should I wear?
Wear something comfortable you can dance and move easily in. If you have dance shoes (dance paws, jazz, or ballet) or socks, bring those as well!

What are Jaywalk's rehearsal times during the semester?

During a typical semester, Jaywalk meets every Monday from 5-7 PM, every Wednesday from 6-8 PM and on Sunday from 3-4 PM. Each hour time slot is dedicated to one of the pieces we will work on during that semester, and dancers are required to attend only the practices for the dances in which they are performing. We encourage dancers to create their course schedules around Jaywalk practices. We also host team bonding events throughout the semester!

We hope to see you all at auditions!
